About us
Life is an endless journey, where some are fortunate to receive care and adoration, while others struggle to meet their basic needs like food, love, or companionship. At Home of Love, we are dedicated to providing needy individuals with the care and affection they deserve. Over the years, we have visited various day care schools, rehabilitation centers, life care centers, and training institutes across the state to assess their activities. This helps us develop better education and rehabilitation programs. We take great care in creating the right ambiance for our residents, believing it enhances their stay. We are proud to have established a rehabilitation center for the elderly and differently-abled individuals, regardless of age or religious affiliation. Here, they receive training, accommodation, and support. We offer equal opportunities to all our residents for a happy life by providing training, employment, and involvement in the center's administration. Since our inception in Mananthavady on May 19, 1977, by His Grace Mar Jacob Thoomkuzhy, Archbishop Emeritus of Trissur, and then Bishop of Mananthavady, we have grown into a well-known organization dedicated to social development. We were canonically erected on September 8, 1986, and elevated to a major Archibiscopal status on March 25, 2006 on the feast of Annunciation to our Blessed Virgin Mary. Our mission is to provide destitute individuals, especially the elderly and those facing challenges, with dignity and pride. We have observed deficiencies in existing institutions during our visits, including inadequate education, rehabilitation, and care. In response, Home of Love Charitable Society has established a Rehabilitation Centre for the elderly and mentally challenged, offering comprehensive support and opportunities for a fulfilling life. Our organization is renowned for its commitment to social service. We operate an old age home and various training programs for the mentally challenged and social workers. Home of Love Charitable Society is a registered society under the Societies Registration Act, XXI of 1960 (S.NO.446/2006) by the District Registrar (GL), Kozhikode District, with a license from the Municipal Corporation, Kozhikode, to construct and run a home for the Old & Destitute.
Our mission is to extend a helping hand to those in dire need and to uplift the marginalized segments of society. Our objectives include:
1.Providing Shelter and Care: Offering refuge to the destitute, bedridden, terminally ill, homeless women, unwed mothers, and abandoned infants.
2.Promoting Charity: Offering charitable services without discrimination based on caste, color, or creed, ensuring support is accessible to all in need.
3.Social Welfare Initiatives:Engaging in social service activities to enhance living conditions and overall welfare, especially in rural areas, regardless of distinctions or segregation.
4.Establishing Welfare Centers:Establishing, managing, and operating social welfare centers to cater to the needs of the community, ensuring their well-being and development.
5.Collaborative Efforts:
- Collaborating with various organizations and institutions to provide shelter and support to those in need, including partnerships with initiatives such as “Anweshi” by the Kerala Police for rehabilitating the homeless.
- Collaborating with medical colleges and hospitals across Kerala to extend support to the underprivileged.
- Working alongside social workers to offer assistance to the destitute and needy.
6.Providing Essential Support:
- Ensuring that individuals abandoned by their next of kin receive essential provisions such as food, shelter, and other necessities, fostering a sense of dignity and belonging.
Through these endeavors, we strive to create a more compassionate and inclusive society, where no one is left behind or forgotten.
“Charity focuses on addressing needs, not just identifying causes.” With your support, we can continue our efforts to tackle the challenges and consequences of old age. Your donation directly benefits the community and enables us to provide shelter and essential daily amenities for the elderly in our care. We strive to help them overcome their challenges and ensure they lead peaceful and fulfilling lives. Your involvement can make a significant difference in the lives of individuals in our society.
Charity extends beyond monetary contributions; it includes offering services to those in need. The destitute and elderly require love, compassion, and kindness above all else. There is nothing more noble than participating in the compassionate act of caring for those less fortunate. Join us in this charitable endeavor, and together, we can provide joy and hope to those who have been neglected. Let’s give them the opportunity to experience the simple joys that have been denied to them. Let’s give them a chance to truly live.
Volunteer by:
- Committing to the well-being of elderly individuals.
- Engaging in conversations or playing games that interest them.
- Organizing cultural programs for their entertainment.
- Providing care for the sick and weak through medical camps.
- Welcoming doctors to generously offer medical treatment to those in need.
- Engaging elderly residents in their favorite hobbies to uplift their spirits.
“Instead of rebuking older individuals, let’s encourage them as we would our own family members, treating younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with sincerity and respect.”
With your support, we can continue addressing the challenges and consequences associated with aging.
Your donation directly sustains our essential programs and positively impacts our community.
